We will show you how to sign up with Commission Junction who represents over a thousand very popular companies. We will also show you how to get affiliate promotion links/banner codes to place in your blog articles.

Which Companies You Will Be Working For
The administrative account we will have you sign up with is Commission Junction also known as http://www.CJ.com. Commission Junction has over a thousand very popular companies to choose from, that will offer compensation for sales, leads, etc. from the promotion banners you will place on your blog(s).

Follow our step-by-step instructions for sign-up, and you will be ready for the next step in our training.

How You Will be Paid
CJ.com represents hundreds of companies such as: HP, Verizon, Yahoo, Kodak, Direct TV, USA Today, eBay, Marriot, CITI Financial, AIG, QVC, AT&T, Hotels.com, and many more.

Commission Junction will pay you once a month on the day of the month on which you signed up. As an example, if you signed up on March 19th, you would then get your first check on April 19th, and then May 19th, etc.

They will not take any taxes out of your check, but will send a tax form 1099 at the end of the year to report your earnings. You will have the option of getting paid by direct deposit, or by mailed check. International members will need to fill out a special tax form, and will be required to report their taxes to their own government as specified by its tax laws.

How It Works
Every time someone clicks on your special affiliate promotion URL or banner and makes a purchase, you get paid the pre-set commission for generating a transaction, such as a sale or lead for each of the companies you select from Commission Junction.

You can select any of the thousands of popular companies in Commissions Junction you choose. After you have read the company's offer, you may select that company by clicking on the special button "APPLY TO PROGRAMS" while logged into your CJ.com account.

Commission Junction companies will either automatically approve you, or will review you and then manually accept or decline you into their program. Every company listed in Commission Junction will have their own preset application process.

Commission Junction will track all of your earnings, and send one payment for all the commissions you have made for any of the companies in their program.

We will help you sign up with Commission Junction for free, and then show you how to select and apply to any of the companies listed in Commission Junction's network. We will then show you how to get your special affiliate promotion link that will be placed on your blog(s). We showed you in detail how to place these links on your blog back in our main training program Blog Articles Part 1.

You will see this screen:

Select your "Preferred Language," your "Country," and "Preferred Currency,"

CLICK ON THE "NEXT" BUTTON AFTER YOU HAVE MADE SELECTIONS

You will then see this screen:

This is the main sign up page. You will need to fill in all of your information to create an account with Commission Junction. We will point out some information that you will need to put when asked.

SERVICE AGREEMENT
Scroll down in the box of the Commission Junction Service Agreement until you see the "Accept" option, click on that and it will check off the "I have read and accepted Commission Junction Access Service Agreement"

CODE OF CONDUCT
Check off the code of conduct agreement

SITE INFORMATION:
Web site or Newsletter Name: Here you will put the title of your blog, e.g., "Work-from-home blog" if your blog's title is Work-From-Home, etc.

Web site URL: Here you would put your blog URL address. (Remember, your blog is acting like a Web site)

Describe Your Web Site: Make a brief description on what your blog is about. A few sentences will do.

Category: Choose a category that would best describe your blog. (CJ offers a category "Online Services - Blog" if you cannot find a better category to fit your blog's subject.

Define Your Promotional Methods: Check off the following: (Web site/Content, Search Engine Marketing, E-mail Marketing).

Does Your Web Site Offer Incentives: Check "NO" and the next box "Describe your Incentive Program" will not needed to be filled out.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
You will have the option to be paid by mailed check; if you choose this option, fill out who you want your check made out to, and select the currency you want your check funded in. If you choose to be paid by direct deposit (U.S. U.K, or Canada Only), a separate box will drop down and you will be able to add your banking information for the direct deposit. You then will enter the verification code and then click, "ACCEPT TERMS"

CONTACT INFORMATION
Fill out your information as required. Only the information with the asterisks * is required. Use the same e-mail for "e-mail" and "verify e-mail" (your e-mail address will also be your login name to Commission Junction). Enter your phone number.

For U.S RESIDENTS ONLY select SSN or EIN, for For U.S RESIDENTS ONLY your tax classification select "Individual/Sole Proprietor," Vat is not needed.

After you click the "ACCEPT TERMS" you will be brought to the "Publisher Application Submitted":

You have now finished the sign-up process for your Commission Junction account. You will next need to go to your e-mail to retrieve you username and password.

The username will be the same as your e-mail address; your password will be pre-assigned by Commission Junction.

Make sure to save this e-mail to have easy access to your login information if you forget it.

Commission Junction's Welcome E-Mail
After you have read the welcome e-mail and retrieved your username and password, you are ready to access your account and choose your links.

To log-in to Commission Junction you will go to the main site http://www.cj.com and enter your login information in the "Client Login."

Your Commission Junction Account
When you log into your Commission Junction account, you will be at your main account page.

Your Commission Junction account page will look like the following:

Here are some of the features of your account

QUICK STATS	The quick stats box, located to the right, will display yesterday's stats, such as earnings, clicks on your promotion companies by Sales, Leads, or Clicks.
GET LINKS	To join any of Commission Junctions companies to promote, you will click on the "Get Links" button at the top of your page. You will also click here to get your affiliate promotion links once you have been approved to promote.
RUN REPORTS	Here you will click to get up-to-the-minute earnings for the day.
ACCOUNT	Whenever you add additional blogs, you will need to set them up on this page. You can also change your personal information here as well.

Commission Junction will send any updates and correspondence directly to the e-mail you signed up with when you created your account.

Finding companies in Commission Junction to promote
To search and select Commission Junction companies to promote, after you are logged into your account, select the "GET LINKS" button.

That will take you to the following page:

This is a set-up similar to LinkShare, and you will have the same two options:

A. Search: Here you can search for a particular company, or a type of product or service offered.

B. Categories: You also have the option to search for companies by categories, and sub-categories such as "Accessories," "Business," "Family," etc. For example, if you wanted to find the company CITI Financial, you would look for them under "Financial Services."

On the right side of the page, Commission Junction will also display the newest companies you can promote.

For training purposes, we are going to click on the category "Books/Media."

After you have clicked on the category "Books/Media," the following page will be displayed:

On this page you will see all of the companies you can promote under this category. You will also see performance stats on how each company is doing (you can find out in your CJ account what all these stats mean). You will also see what the company is offering as commission or leads for generating a transaction.

Each company will be displayed in separate boxes as shown above. You can click on the company name to get more information about what is being offered, as well as the company's Web site.

A. Select Company: Place a check mark in the box next to the company that you want to apply to and promote.

B. Apply to Program: After you have placed your check mark, click on the "Apply to Program" button at the top or bottom of the page. Some companies will have you agree to their own terms stated in another box that will be displayed. Click on the terms in blue, then scroll down to accept terms.

After you click on the Apply to Program's button, a message will be displayed to tell you the current status of your application.

Many sites will review your application and send you a confirmation of approval. Some sites will automatically approve you on the spot. If you get a declined application don't panic, this is usually because the company will want you to be part of Commission Junction for three months before approving you.

Other Important Information to Know:

Company Pay: Here is what the particular company is willing to pay you for your promotions. Most will pay by "Lead" or "Sale" and they are as follows:

Lead: You will get paid when someone fills out an application, tries a free offer etc. Each company will explain more on how it works if you click on the company name.

Sale: Companies will offer a flat rate or a % of sale (commission) for your promotions. This means you will get paid that flat rate, or that % when something is purchased through the promotion links you placed on your blog.

You will also see the offers in either U.S $ or British £, This will not make any difference in you can promote. You can promote British companies or US companies no matter the currency you select. All currency will be converted to the payment currency you selected before payment is sent out.

APPLY TO THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM TO CONTINUE TRAINING
For our training purposes check off the company "Hart Energy" and click on "Apply to Program" and you should be automatically approved.

Getting affiliate promotion links for LinkShare companies
You will always need to be logged into your Commission Junction account to obtain the affiliate promotion links or banners for any of the companies in Commission Junction.

After you are logged into your account, click on "JOIN PROGRAMS" button, then select the sub-menu "BY RELATIONSHIP."

You will then be at the following page:

All of the companies that you have been approved for will be listed here, so it will be easy to locate and get your promotion links/banner codes for any of these companies.

You will see the company you applied to and were approved for, "Hart Energy" listed in this box.

Double click on the "Hart Energy" and that will take you to this screen:

There are several ways to get promotion links or banners for your companies in Commission Junction.

Banner: You can use these banners to post in your blog(s). You will first select the banner you would like to place on your blog, then copy the complete HTML code from Commission Junction banners and paste it in the page element on your blog templates layout.

To do this, select "Banner," then choose the banner you would like to place on your blog.

Next click on the "GET HTML" under the Get links column.

A separate box will pop up; then select "Highlight Code/Copy Code" button.

Once you click that button it will automatically copy the code. We will give you instructions on where to post that code on your blog in the Blog Articles Part 1 training.

Text Link: This will be where you will get all of your affiliate promotion links for text links, such as your call-to-action links (e.g. "GO HERE", or "CLICK HERE" etc.)

Getting affiliate link codes for text links
Here is how you get the promotion links to place in your text, such as the call-to-actions (GO HERE, CLICK HERE, etc.) you will be placing in your blog postings:

Click on the "TEXT LINK" and you will go to the following page:

A list of several textual headings will be displayed; you can choose any of these that are listed on this page. This is because you are only going to get the promotion link. We will have you create your own textual data such as the call-to-actions when you post any of your links.

Click on any "GET HTML" on this page.

And the following box will apear on the next page:

Your affiliate promotion link will follow the "href=" as we show you highlighted in blue above. You will copy the complete link between the parentheses ("and") from the box shown above.

The complete promotion link will look like this:

All of your promotion links with Commission Junction will begin with the http:// and end with an eight digit number.

Your link will not look exactly like the one above. Each promotion link is exclusive for each Commission Junction member, but you can see what the basic format of the link.
